"text": "Camera trap data package from the Wildlife Observatory of Australia's Wildlife Camera Database. Dataset ID: TAS_NorthIsland_CatDevil_Cunnignham_2020_WildObsID_0039. Since its emergence in the mid 1990s, Tasmanian devil facial tumour disease has spread across most of Tasmania, causing major Tasmanian devil population declines. The progressive spread of the disease has established regions with differing disease histories, thereby stablishing a natural experiment that can be used to infer the species' ecological effects. This camera survey spanned the east-west gradient of disaease spread, investigating population sizes and temporal activity of mammals in areas with disease-caused differences in devil abundance. \n Each study site comprised a 2-km transect of 14 remote cameras (explained below) and was on average 15 km from the nearest study site. We selected study sites to sample three of Tasmania's major vegetation communities: wet eucalypt/rainforest, dry eucalypt forest and coastal ve",
