"text": "Camera trap data package from the Wildlife Observatory of Australia's Wildlife Camera Database. Dataset ID: SA_NSW_StrzeleckiDesert_DingoFence_Letnic_2009_2015_WildObsID_0048. The 5500 km-long dingo barrier fence (DBF) is a boundary beyond which the goal of dingo control programs shifts from management to elimination. Since 1980, ecologists have used differences in dingo density across the DBF to study the ecological role of Australia’s largest terrestrial predator. We used camera-trap footage between 2009 and 2015 to assess differences in mammal and bird communities across the DBF in arid Australia. The 2011 and 2012 surveys aimed to understand the foraging efficiency of small mammals and the behaviour of predators in the area; the cameras were placed low to the ground and baited with seeds or fake lizard bait. The 2009, 2014, and 2015 surveys were aimed at assessing the overall community of larger mammals and birds in the area, and, as a result, the cameras were placed higher off the",
