Description

"This collaborative project will establish, and Australian Circularity Gap report based on a comprehensive material flow analysis of the Australian economy, whole of life cycle, including domestic and international flows. This will assist the data and analytics division of DAWE and provide a broad numeric understanding for the data visualization platform developed by DAWE and will create a knowledge base for the waste management and resource recovery sector. It will also provide information for the specific waste stream and sectors such as for instance the C&I and C&D waste streams that are a focus of the Waste Collection and resource recovery Section of DAWE. The work will be based on material flow analysis, supply chain analysis and environmentally extended input-output analysis and will employ capabilities at the CSIRO and UNSW especially the Australian Virtual Industrial Ecology laboratory (IE Lab) and novel methods of waste input-output analysis. The project will develop headline indicators for Australia’s circular economy performance and a detailed dataset for policy and business analysis."
