Understanding emissions pathways and managing carbon.

Understanding carbon trends is essential for Australia’s Net Zero target.

This project is constructing comprehensive greenhouse gas budgets for Australia, including all major natural and human-caused sources, sinks and coastal ecosystems (blue carbon). It also assesses the potential of landscape carbon sequestration, and the future evolution of carbon sinks under climate change. This is contributing to balancing Australia’s carbon budget and enhancing global understanding of carbon storage with contributions to the UNFCCC Global Stocktake.
