Many migratory shorebirds are declining rapidly, and hence the focus of conservation efforts at multiple levels of government in Australia and overseas. However, trend data are now nearly 10 years old, meaning the information available to assess where conservation actions are needed most urgently and whether conservation efforts are helping species recover are outdated.\n\nTo ensure populations have the best chance at recovery and that resources are allocated where they are most likely to have the greatest positive impacts, it is critical to maintain up-to-date information on species trends. This project analysed 30 years of shorebird monitoring data collected by citizen science groups across Australia and curated by BirdLife Australia’s National Shorebird Monitoring Program to update national trend estimates, while also assessing the relative effects of human pressure and conservation efforts on population trends. In particular, it focused on 15 migratory shorebird species whose conservation status was being reassessed by the Australian Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. This project sets the stage for building the next decade of coastal shorebird conservation activity in Australia, coordinated through the national mechanism of the End User: National Migratory Shorebird Conservation Action Plan Steering Committee, with representatives from national and state governments as well as leading shorebird experts.", "type": { "id": "https://vocabulary.raid.org/description.type.schema/318", "schemaUri": "https://vocabulary.raid.org/description.type.schema/320" }, "language": { "id": "eng", "schemaUri": "https://www.iso.org/standard/74575.html" } } ], "access": { "type": { "id": "https://vocabularies.coar-repositories.org/access_rights/c_abf2/", "schemaUri": "https://vocabularies.coar-repositories.org/access_rights/" } }, "alternateUrl": [ { "url": "https://catalogue.aodn.org.au/geonetwork/srv/eng/catalog.search#/metadata/7857ff01-9f4e-4fc6-9ce1-db8824fb0292" } ], "contributor": [ { "id": "https://orcid.org/0000-0001-9468-9678", "schemaUri": "https://orcid.org/", "status": "AWAITING_AUTHENTICATION", "uuid": "b60a422d-af40-49df-8e17-22b6d31360d4", "position": [ { "schemaUri": "https://vocabulary.raid.org/contributor.position.schema/305", "id": "https://vocabulary.raid.org/contributor.position.schema/307", "startDate": "2021-09-01", "endDate": "2022-08-31" } ], "role": [], "leader": true, "contact": true }, { "id": "https://orcid.org/0000-0002-3435-5040", "schemaUri": "https://orcid.org/", "status": "AWAITING_AUTHENTICATION", "uuid": "66420f05-2efe-42bb-ac73-052b3f238b1d", "position": [ { "schemaUri": "https://vocabulary.raid.org/contributor.position.schema/305", "id": "https://vocabulary.raid.org/contributor.position.schema/308", "startDate": "2021-09-01", "endDate": "2022-08-31" } ], "role": [], "leader": false, "contact": false }, { "id": "https://orcid.org/0000-0001-6576-3410", "schemaUri": "https://orcid.org/", "status": "AWAITING_AUTHENTICATION", "uuid": "414b1d6a-e260-4de7-a3a9-f93d37ad8308", "position": [ { "schemaUri": "https://vocabulary.raid.org/contributor.position.schema/305", "id": "https://vocabulary.raid.org/contributor.position.schema/308", "startDate": "2021-09-01", "endDate": "2022-08-31" } ], "role": [], "leader": false, "contact": false } ], "organisation": [ { "id": "https://ror.org/00rqy9422", "schemaUri": "https://ror.org/", "role": [ { "schemaUri": "https://vocabulary.raid.org/organisation.role.schema/359", "id": "https://vocabulary.raid.org/organisation.role.schema/182", "startDate": "2021-09-01", "endDate": "2022-08-31" } ] } ], "subject": [ { "id": "https://linked.data.gov.au/def/anzsrc-for/2020/310307", "schemaUri": "https://vocabs.ardc.edu.au/viewById/316", "keyword": [ { "text": "migratory species", "language": { "id": "eng", "schemaUri": "https://www.iso.org/standard/74575.html" } }, { "text": "threatened species", "language": { "id": "eng", "schemaUri": "https://www.iso.org/standard/74575.html" } }, { "text": "population trends", "language": { "id": "eng", "schemaUri": "https://www.iso.org/standard/74575.html" } }, { "text": "coastal wetlands", "language": { "id": "eng", "schemaUri": "https://www.iso.org/standard/74575.html" } } ] }, { "id": "https://linked.data.gov.au/def/anzsrc-for/2020/410407", "schemaUri": "https://vocabs.ardc.edu.au/viewById/316", "keyword": [ { "text": "population trends", "language": { "id": "eng", "schemaUri": "https://www.iso.org/standard/74575.html" } }, { "text": "Wildlife Conservation Plan", "language": { "id": "eng", "schemaUri": "https://www.iso.org/standard/74575.html" } } ] } ], "relatedRaid": [ { "id": "https://raid.org/10.71821/418be95a", "type": { "id": "https://vocabulary.raid.org/relatedRaid.type.schema/202", "schemaUri": "https://vocabulary.raid.org/relatedRaid.type.schema/367" } } ], "relatedObject": [], "alternateIdentifier": [], "spatialCoverage": [] }
