Description

This study will use data from the Heart Lung Clinic database. First, we will conduct a cross-sectional study evaluating the prevalence of frailty with and without obesity at the time of first assessment by the heart-lung clinic. Secondly, we will perform a retrospective cohort study to evaluate the impact of frailty and obesity on transplant-related outcomes. The study will determine whether frailty predicts outcomes independent of obesity or amplifies the effect of obesity on outcomes. Patients will be stratified into obese-frail, obese-non-frail, non-obese-frail, and non-obese-non-frail groups based on frailty assessment at baseline, and outcomes will be compared between these groups.
