      "text": "This research is a quantitative study linking audited patient modifiable lifestyle factors with patient surgery outcome data to determine the associated implications of Covid-related surgery suspension during the period of March to April 2020 and the community-imposed restrictions from March 2020 at Fiona Stanley Hospital in Western Australia. The novel study will be a case control examination of the first wave of Covid-19 using a 2019 and 2020 comparison cohort. \t\nA retrospective medical chart review was conducted in 2022, using 2,353 patient notes to document lifestyle behaviours such as smoking, alcohol use for harm, malnutrition, physical fitness, high body mass index, and frailty on patient health questionnaires or related pre-surgery notes. Further analysis will be conducted using this cohort to investigate the significance of lifestyle behaviour changes during the Covid-19 phase in early 2020 and significance to post surgery outcomes associated with extended waitlist times to surgery. \nThe implications of this research will inform decision making for preparations and planning for future pandemics on the delivery of elective surgery services and patient healthy lifestyle information prior to surgery.",
