Descriptions
Description
This study will implement a convergent mixed methods methodology, employing a holistic case study design to understand the impacts of International Service Learning (ISL) on the knowledge and enactment of Critical Global Citizenship (CGC). A pragmatic lens will make use of both qualitative, post placement focus group data and quantitative pre and post placement survey data to analyse immediate ISL transformation. Interpretive phenomenological analysis will gather data from purposefully sampled ISL participants who have enacted CGC in the long term. Emerging themes will serve to illuminate the transformative potential of ISL and the relevant impacting factors that encourage long term commitment to CGC.
