Description
Undertaking the P4 study: The participants’ experience is a substudy of the prospective cohort P4 study. The original P4 study (Postpartum physiology, psychology and paediatric) enrolled participants at St George hospital, who gave birth in the preceding 6-months. The participants were normotensive, had gestational hypertension or pre-eclampsia and were assessed at six-months, two-years and five-years after birth for anthropometric, blood pressure, and psychological assessment. The babies were examined by a paediatrician and their mother, at each time-point, and a psychologist at two-years. The substudy investigates the participants’ experience throughout P4, through a questionnaire administered at the 5-year time-point that includes two open-ended questions and a closed-question allowing participants the opportunity to provide feedback on their clinical trial experience. The data collected will procure an understanding of the impacts of clinical trials on participants, aiding researchers in creating studies that are acceptable and welcomed by the general population.
