"text": "Iron deficiency is common in heart failure patients, and effective treatment improves symptoms and quality of life. Australian guidelines recommend iron testing and treatment, but the real-world implementation and impact are unclear. Utilising MBS and other data in the National Health Data Hub, linked to the National Echo Database of Australia, this required information can be obtained, delivering efficient, evidence-based healthcare measures while ensuring privacy. The data will benchmark iron testing against guidelines, evaluate the impact of timely intravenous iron therapy, assess outcomes like hospitalisations and mortality, and guide clinical decisions on choosing the correct MBS iron item and retesting frequency. It will empower patients to discuss results with clinicians and improve clinical support tools across disciplines. The initiative aims to drive practice change, enhance patient awareness, support ongoing research, and set a precedent for using linked MBS/PBS data.",
