Descriptions

Description
The role of transplant centres and healthcare workers in providing dedicated services to support the ongoing care of AYA recipients is therefore crucial in transition phases (Ullrich et al., 2004). Transplant centres provide follow-up care and monitoring and offer a range of support services, including counselling, education, and resources to help patients and their families navigate the transplant process and adjust to life post-transplant. However, there is minimal literature of transplant centre impact on the transition period for AYA solid-organ recipients and there is a lack of uniformity of programs and resources for pre- and post-transplant care of AYA’s in Australia and New Zealand. To gain a better understanding of existing services, practices, protocols and support structures in transplant centres in Australia and New Zealand, we propose an exploratory survey of healthcare providers who provide transplantation services for solid organ transplant recipients in Australia and New Zealand. It is hoped that these results will identify areas of strength and gaps in services that can be targeted to improve the services and outcomes for AYA solid organ transplant recipients.
