Descriptions

Description

This qualitative study aims to explore staff perceptions of aged care residents' experiences of family involvement in their residential life in Metropolitan Sydney (Walter, 2019). Its objectives are to identify and analyse the staff's perceptions by asking the following questions: Primary question: What are the staff's perceptions of the aged care residents' experiences of their family's involvement in their residential life? Secondary question: What are the staff's perceptions of what residents value the most and the least about their family's involvement in their residential life?

The research project will investigate staff perceptions of aged care resident experiences of family involvement in their residential life. This study seeks to raise awareness of how residents perceive and value their families' role in their lives, shedding light on what is meaningful and helpful to them. This awareness is relevant to ACH and families as it can equip them better to provide care to the residents, helping them to ensure that ACH residents enjoy fulfilling lives. Participants of this study are nurses or personal care workers whose role include taking care of residents' daily routines at Sydney aged care homes.
