Description

This descriptive study will examine an existing data set from a national survey of women who enrolled in the Australian National Diabetes Services Scheme and completed the ‘GDM Holistic Healthcare Needs Scale’. This study seeks to further examine existing data from the scale evaluation which was conducted by the University of Canberra in collaboration with Diabetes Australia. This study will examine the same dataset to evaluate differences in the care needs of women living with GDM across different levels of geographical remoteness. This project seeks to develop a greater understanding of the holistic healthcare needs of women with GDM, including the impact of geographical remoteness and locality size, in order to improve GDM models of care across Australia. Comparative descriptive analysis of the dataset will use a non-parametric statistical test to compare the results of women based on their recorded postcode and corresponding class of remoteness according to the Modified Monash Model (MMM) for remoteness.
