Description
This project aims to investigate the response of a novel blood marker to an ischemic preconditioning protocol that can be used to enhance performance in elite athletes. Ischemic preconditioning involves the use of cycles of blood flow restriction prior to exercise in order to stimulate a protective mechanism in the body which leads to enhanced exercise performance. The outcomes of this investigation will show whether it is possible to detect changes in albumin, which is the most abundant protein in human blood, as a result of the IPC protocol and subsequent exercise.
