Descriptions
Description
The aim of the study is to improve interprofessional collaboration between general practitioners (GPs) and community pharmacists (CPs) by exploring GPs’ communication preferences from pharmacists, which will support the development of efficient and timely communication pathways. This will lead to safer and more coordinated care for patients with asthma and COD, especially in relation to medications and supporting treatment adherence according to the previous studies. The objectives are (1) to explore GP’s preferences and expectations regarding communication from pharmacists in terms of asthma and COPD management, (2) to assess challenges and barriers that GPs encounter secondary to the current lack of a systematic communication strategy around GPs and pharmacists, (3) to identify enablers that support interprofessional collaboration from the insights of GPs, and (4) to identify recommendations for GPs-pharmacists communication strategies aligned with the existing GPs’ electronic medical record (eMR)and clinical workflows.
